Do you want to see the ‘Big Picture’ of
how coaching impacts people and the whole

Have you read the book ‘Power vs. Force’
by Dr. Hawkins? In this book, he lays out a
‘map of consciousness’. This is a detailed
scale of how evolved a person is (or a group
of people, or humanity as a whole).

As we grow through a challenge, we become more
and more evolved. This happens slowly over time and
sometimes in big leaps forward. This has been happening
throughout history and according to the book, we have been
evolving over time (although, very slowly).

There are two types of challenges we face that give
us an opportunity to grow and evolve. The first kind are
the ones that life imposes upon us (the death of a loved
one, personal tragedies, etc.).

The second type of challenge is the kind we take upon
ourselves (finding a new love, starting a business, etc.).

We are all subject to the first type of challenge. And
even with personal tragedies, we’re given the opportunity
to grow from them, or to regress. Growing through a personal
tragedy can mean learning acceptance, gratitude, and peace.
And…

To varying degrees, most of us will pursue the second type of
challenge. These come from our goals, dreams, and desires.
But…

When achieving our goals and dreams gets tough, the
majority of people give up and throw in the towel. I know I’ve
given up on some of my dreams in the past. Nearly all of us do it.
And when we do, we shrink. But…

**** Take Up The Challenge! ***

When you take up the challenge, you grow and
evolve. When you have a dream, goal, or desire
that challenges you, you’re forced to either give up
or grow to achieve it.

When you give up, you get weaker. When
you grow, you get stronger and you evolve.

pursuing it. And that’s where coaching comes in.

According to Start-Up Magazine, ‘Coaching is the number two
growth industry right behind IT (Information Technology) jobs, and
it’s the number one home-based profession.’

Since being featured in Forbes, MSN, & Yahoo, I’ve

With TV shows about coaching (like ‘Starting Over’, and

show, I think it’s safe to say that coaching is now mainstream.

I can’t say for sure, but I think believe there

First of all, our culture has changed very fast over

ago are now held and accepted as true. Ideas like:

- People do change and can change themselves
- You should listening to and being guided by your intuition
- You are the creator of your reality

All of these ideas (and many others) that were really
‘out there’ before, now seem to make perfect sense.
And coaching is an extension of that.

Another reason coaching is getting so ‘big’ is
that people aren’t as willing to ‘settle’ as they were
in the past. Today people want more. We want better
relationships, better cars and homes, better lives, and
better careers!

Can you imagine life in the 1800′s? Back then
your life would hardly ever change. If you were
born on a farm, you’d be a farmer. That’s about
all there was to it.

Today, if you were born on a farm (as unlikely as that is
these days), you could become a farmer, but you wouldn’t
have to. You’d have lots of options. Today we have options
and we want more!

People who are serious about change know that they
need to make it happen themselves. But, they also know
that they may not be able to do it alone.

People turn to coaching for more discipline, focus,
direction, guidance, wisdom, understanding, and ultimately
to get the results they want that they couldn’t get on
their own. And…

That’s why corporations want their people
coached. They are starting to ‘get’ that people
are capable of much more, but usually don’t live
up to their potential. But, with a coach, results
almost always improve! Sometimes dramatically.

If you love the idea of helping people,
making a difference in people’s lives, and watching
people grow, then coaching is the best ”career” or
business to be in.

Not only is it rewarding emotionally, it
can also be very rewarding financially. But,
do most coaches really make the ”big bucks”?

Sadly, no. Most coaches aren’t making the
big money in coaching. Why?

Although coaching jobs are on the rise,
they are still ”few and far between” compared
to the number of coaches in the world. And…

Growing your own coaching business can be
a real challenge. Although there are some
people who can go from Zero to 6 figures
in 90 days (one of my clients did this), it
isn’t realistic to expect that this will happen
for everyone.

That said, after 7 years of coaching and
growing my business slowly over time, I love:

- having a job I truly enjoy
- setting my own hours
- the positive challenge of growing my own business
- working just 4 days a week (I take Friday’s off)
- living my dream life (resort style condo in San Diego,
dream girl, dream car, vacations, etc.)
- Making 6 figures

*** The BIG Question ***

OK, so now the big question:
”Can ‘anyone’ make a great living as
a professional coach?”

The answer is a gigantic, ”YES!”.

But, *will* everyone make a great living
as a professional coach? ”No”. Everyone CAN
do it. But, not everyone will.

As with all businesses there’s a lot to
learn. For most coaches, sales and marketing
are usually the tough parts. Most coaches focus
on training to BE a good coach. But…

Many coaches fail to train to become
good at running a successful coaching business.
Why? It *seems* easier and more fun to learn coaching
than sales and marketing. But, learning to market
and sell can be just as fun. In fact, they can actually
be part of the coaching process. Still…

Most people don’t think they’ll enjoy it
and most end up not enjoying it. I believe that the
main reason is usually because of what people think
selling and marketing ”is”. What is it to you?

Is it… tricking, manipulating, or pushing people
into doing something they don’t want to do? Or…

Is it… getting to know people, what their dreams
and desires are, what their challenges are -and
then, *inspiring*, *motivating*, and *getting them into
action* in some way (sometimes the action will be to
buy something from you if that’s what’s best for
them). By the way…

This is how I see sales and marketing.
Especially when marketing and selling coaching.

A) Getting to know people (what they want, and
what they want to change).
B) Connecting with them (in person, phone, or
through the web).
C) Inspiring and motivating them to take action!

In fact, I see marketing and selling as coaching
in and of itself. As coaches, we’re in a unique position
to market and sell in a way that actually makes a difference
in people’s lives! And, that’s the way I teach sales and
marketing too.
