More Confidence, More Monkey, More Clients

Do you want more ‘monkey’? I’m using
the word ‘monkey’ to represent the similar
word for currency (monkey – k = ?). I’m doing
this to help ensure this email gets to you

Here’s the coaching formula for more ‘monkey’.

**** More Sales Equals More ‘Monkey’ ****

Now sales can mean ‘product sales’ if you
sell products, or it can mean ‘client enrollments’.
Even though I’m a big fan of product sales, it’s
actually much easier to generate $1000 or more
from coaching than product sales (unless you
have an email list of at least 2,000 people).

Therefore, I’m going to share a powerful
‘technique’ with you for getting more coaching
clients this month!

**** How To Be Super Powerful ****

Do you ever stumble and ‘stub your toe’
so to speak, while giving your free coaching
sessions? Or how about during a presentation
or a ’30 second commercial/introduction’ at
a networking event? If you ever run into these
kinds of situations where you stumble your
way through, then you’re going to love this…

You’re about to learn how to immediately
increase your confidence in ANY situation so that
you can ‘show up’ at those critical ‘moments of
truth’ where your business success depends on
you being at your best.

If you ever feel nervous when you know you need
to be ‘smooth’, here’s a way to give yourself
*instant confidence* at any moment. But, you can
stop reading right now if you aren’t willing to
actually try this exercise right now! Why?

Because, if you don’t try this right now,
your mind will intellectualize what you’re
about to learn and dismiss it. You won’t ‘get’
it in a way that will translate into actual

**** The 60 Second ‘Power’ Exercise ****

Here’s the exercise:

Step 1: Put your posture the way you
would be if you were sad. Do it right
now. Then put the expression on your face
that you would have if you were sad right now.

How do you feel? A little sad?

Step 2: Stand up (really do this right now)
and shake your body out. Then, stand tall and
upright with your head up high and a confident
(almost cocky) expression on your face! The kind
of expression you’d have it you were thinking
‘That’s right, I’m the best!’ ‘I rock!’

Notice how you feel now. Don’t you
have more energy and confidence how than
you did when you were in the first position?

Step 3: (This step is only for those who
want *wild success* and are willing to step
into the outrageous zone to do it). Jump
up and down as if you just hit a grand slam
home run to win the world series. Do it!
(and remember to make the wooo-hooo noises!)

Now how amazing do you feel now?!!


*** How Your Body Creates Confidence ***

Your body can tell your mind how to feel.
When you move your body in a way that creates
confidence, you feel confident.

This confidence will carry with you when
you are having your initial session with clients
so that they are more likely to hire you. It will
be with you when you are at networking events and
you introduced yourself. And it will be a powerful
tool for every area of your life.

You’ll only realize the power of this technique
if you actually did the exercises above. If you didn’t
do it yet, do it know. It only takes 1 min.

Putting it into action. Before a ‘critical’
moment in your business (or life) take a second
to move your body in a way that makes you feel
great! The more extreme you are in your movements,
the bigger the shift in your emotional energy.

Why I Needed a Coach | Secrets From My Past

Some people refer to me as ‘Super Coach’
because they see me as a leader in the coaching
industry.

My wife calls me ‘super coach’
because sometimes I wear a baseball cap that
says ‘coach’ on it.

After coaching for 10 years, being featured
in Forbes, MSN, Yahoo, et all, what most people
don’t know about me may be down right shocking!

You’re about to hear secrets from my past
at the lowest point in my life!

I was young and naïve. I just bought my first
house at age 24 and 6 months later I quit my job
with no other job lined up and a big fat mortgage!
(real smart)

During this time, I got a business idea and
started sinking time and money into it. But, I had
to pay the bills so I looked for a job.

It took me 4 months to find another job. Even
though after the first day I knew it was a job I
would HATE, I figured I would only be working there
for a few months anyway because my business would be
rocking by then.

1 year later, my business was nowhere, I
dreaded my job, someone that I worked with was
teasing me and down-right harassing me in front
of everyone in the office (with no consequences).

I wanted to cry!

Almost everyday was a nightmare for me. I also
wasn’t exercising anymore and I was in the worst
shape of my life, and my girlfriend (now ex) and
I were having major problems!

Can you feel my pain? I felt weak, powerless,
and a mess.

But, underneath it all was a part of me that
knew I wasn’t being all I could be, giving my all,
or living up to my potential.

As bad as I felt I couldn’t really blame anyone
but me.  In fact, the coworker that was harassing me,
harassed other people at work all the time, but he
never used to say anything to me, when I was stronger.

It was my own weakness that he sensed like a
shark smelling blood in the water.

This was the lowest point in my life. I felt
stuck and I didn’t know where to turn.

That’s when I hired my first coach. Working
with Colleen literally turned my life around.

Immediately I started exercising again and
working on my business. Surprisingly the harassment
at work tapered off and then stopped completely.
9 months later…

I quit my job to go full time in my own business,
I was in great shape, I ended my rocky relationship,

The Coach Fantasy | Why You Can LOVE Marketing From Now On

Have you ever wished your coaching
business would work like this? …

* You have 10-20 clients that all rave about you

* They pay you handsomely

* They all recommend other potential clients to you

* You NEVER have to worry about getting new clients or
if your current clients will leave because you have a
waiting list!

* You never do any marketing because there’s no need

As a coach, your job is to ”facilitate growth and
change”. What you may not realize is that marketing
materials can facilitate growth and change in and of
themselves! Let me back up a step here…

Coaching is the facilitation of growth and change.
I get ”coached” by books, movies, friends, strangers,
etc. I say that ”everything and everyone around me
is my coach”.

Now a professional coach is someone that I will
PAY to facilitate growth and change. (That’s what
professional means, simply that you get paid for what
you do.) So, when I say that…

Your marketing materials can help people and,
in fact, they can coach people… what I mean is that
people can be exposed to your marketing materials and
experience a transformation just from what you
communicate.

Here are a few quick, personal examples:

1) I went to this website on ”attracting a new car”. It
was a little ”hokey” and over-the-top, so I didn’t buy
anything. But, it inspired me to put my dream car as
a high priority and I ended up getting it a few months
later! Then…

2) I have a program on ”time abundance” (the only
one on the planet), and I hear people tell me that
they feel a major shift around time just from reading
the promo page for it! And…

3) I got an email from a gentleman a few weeks ago
that read my promo page for the ”Free Sessions That
Sell: Client Enrollment System” and he emailed me
telling me how he felt more confident talking to a
prospective client and got the client, just from
reading the webpage! And, what’s cool is…

In all of these examples no one purchased
anything, but we all had a ”transformation” from
being ”coached” by the marketing materials.

Marketing materials make a difference in the
world all by themselves! So…

Does this mean that we don’t want our marketing
materials to make us money?

Of course we still NEED to keep generating
revenue.  If we don’t generate revenue, there’s
something wrong.

And we won’t be able to sustain ourselves and
keep helping people. We need our marketing to produce
sales. But…

Your marketing materials and strategies can do
BOTH. They can help people AND generate sales and
revenue!

Here are some quick ”shifts” to the way you think
about marketing that can make it more fun, and make
you far more effective with it.

1) Start creating your marketing materials to serve
people instead of to sell people. Of course you want
results for yourself especially for all the work you
put into it, but the more you focus on creating your
marketing in a way that creates value, the more you’ll
*feel good about marketing*. The more you feel good
about it, the more you’ll do it!

2) To be a great coach, you need to have rapport with
your clients. To be a great marketer, you also need to
have rapport. The best way to gain rapport is to
understand your clients in the deepest way. If you ”get”
their secret desires, pains, struggles, etc. and connect
with them through your marketing communications, you”ll
have a deep and lasting bond.

3) Inspire people with your marketing! Show them
what is possible. Extreme results can be ”over-the
top”, but if they’re true they can also be inspiring!
Also, testimonials of other people’s results can be
inspiring. As a coach, part of your job is to inspire
your clients. Same with your marketing.

4) Great coaching is about ACTION. Focus on creating
marketing materials that get people into action. Part
of that action is to buy your product, program, or to
have an intro. session with you. And part of the action
might be to do something different, or in a different way
or to finally get of their butt and actually ”go for it”.

5) ”GET” that when your marketing efforts motivate
people to buy your products or services, the people
who buy are going win ”BIG TIME”. If you’ve ever
felt bad about ”selling stuff”, part of the reason
probably has to do with overlooking how much impact
you will have on your client. When they buy, they ”win”!

BOTTOM LINE: Marketing, done well, adds value
and ”coaches” the group of people you want to serve.

More Intro. Sessions = More Coaching Clients

You might already know that the
“Intro. session” (AKA free session)
is THE #1 way for you to get clients…

It’s true because most, if not all,
of your clients will come to you from
these sessions. And, if you don’t have
enough coaching clients part of the reason
is because you aren’t getting enough people
having intro. sessions with you. In fact…

The # of clients you have is
mostly determined by 3 things:

1. how many free sessions you do each month.
2. how long your clients stick around.
3. how good you are at converting people from the intro. sessions into hiring you for coaching.

If you improve any of these areas,
your coaching business will grow! If you
improve all 3, you’re business will soar!

Here are 5 things you can do to start
getting a lot more intro. sessions and a
lot more clients.

1) Send out an offer for a free coaching session
to your newsletter list. Where most coaches
go wrong on this idea is that they put the offer
deep into their newsletter and only a few people
will see it there. Instead, send out a single
newsletter/email specifically about the session
you’re offering!

2) Grow your newsletter list of subscribers. This
is where you’ll stay in touch with your potential
clients and can make offers of a free session from
time to time. Where coaches go wrong here is by not
picking a target audience/niche. They end up writing
about general “stuff” that can help anyone, but does not
capture the hearts and minds of people the way having
one specific group will. The result, few people will
actually ever read your newsletters on a regular basis
from beginning to end and pass it on to others.

3. Build a case for why someone should spend their time
and energy having a free session with you. This is how
most coaches describe their free session offer (poorly):

“I offer a free exploratory coaching session. If you would
like to see if coaching is right for you, call XXXX or email YYY”.

Just because something is “free” doesn’t mean people
will want it. Like most everything else in life, the “free
session” needs to be “sold”. Write up some compelling
reasons people should have a session with you and the
real tangible benefits people will leave the session with.

4. Tell people that you want to work with them. When you
come across people that you think would be great to
work with, let them know “I’d like to coach you”. Most
of the time they’ll be flattered. Compliment them by
telling them why you’d like to work with them. “You
have great energy and I’d love to watch you get into
full bloom” or “After hearing you speak, your passion
got me inspired and I’d like to help you make your
vision come true”. Most people will be open to having
a free session with you to see if it makes sense for them.

5. Go for the “easy yes” before offering the intro. session.
Many coaches don’t realize how important these intro.
sessions are. But, once they do, they start offering these
sessions to strangers they meet at networking events.
Now, this CAN be effective. But, you’ll miss out on
connecting with MOST people and building a relationship
that could later lead to a free session and hiring you. Instead
offer a “Special Report”, tele-class, or audio program on a topic
that is of extreme interest to the people you’re networking with.
More people will say “yes, I want that” and you’ll be able to
stay in touch with them sending your “articles/newsletters”
and later offering the free session.

BOTTOM LINE:
Get out there and get intro. session with people
and you’ll start getting a lot more clients!

Sample Sessions Gone Wrong! | Certification | Why People Really Hire Coaches

Hey there,

Have you ever had a free session with
a potential client that went very well, and you’d
love to work with them, but… they want to
think it over?

Perhaps they even seemed like they were
so enthused that they were sure to hire you,
but they didn’t… yet.

“Maybe he’ll still hire me”,
you think to yourself (stuffing away the
disappointment), until 2 weeks go by and
still nothing!

Perhaps you even followed up to “check in”
and see where he is. But…

At this point it’s already too late.

I used to experience this a lot and apparently
I’m not alone. Here’s a question from a coach with
an *interesting twist* on a similar situation. Pay close
attention because I’m going to share one of the secrets
that turned this around for me and many coaches I’ve
shared this with…

-> Question from Coach “L”:

“Christian, I believe one of my biggest obstacles is
the potential client who has contacted me and has a
30-min. comp session and tells me (either at the beginning
or end) that they’ll be interviewing other coaches before
getting back to me.  I bet I’ve laid the groundwork for
some of those coaches to close. Our own coach training
suggests we give clients more than one referral (to another
coach).
How then do you see handling this?”

==> My answer…

Hi L,

Your coach training company has reasons for suggesting
that you recommend other coaches before letting them
decide to hire you. I’m not sure what they are, but I’m sure
they have reasons for this. That said…

I recommend NOT doing this. Why? Because people
are drawn to you for a reason and if they want your
help, BY ALL MEANS let them have it!

As for the “I’m interviewing other coaches” thing.
No worries.

First of all, if you do a great job in the free session
(the way I teach it in my program “Free Sessions That Sell: The
Client Enrollment System [http://tinyurl.com/3xhc8ap]
not the way your coaching school says to do it), then there is
a good chance they will hire you anyway. Even if they have
a session with someone else later.

In fact, they will likely make you look like a super star because
most coaches just give out a sample of coaching instead of… what
I  teach in the Free Sessions That Sell program. And that means their
true needs are rarely discovered or addressed and that they don”t
totally “get” how coaching will help them long term (so that they are
happy to pay for it).

If you would like to get people to hire you on the spot
even if they were planning to talk to other coaches, here’s
how to do it.

Do you recommend getting certified just for credibility purposes?

I am thinking of going to mentorcoach.com, rather than coachu.com
since mentorcoach caters to mostly therapists.  Which may be helpful
to a business minded person such as myself.  What are your thoughts?”

==> My Answer:

T, certification isn’t very important for getting clients.

One of the things I teach in my “Client Attraction and Money Making Mastery – home study program” is the idea that people hire a
coach based on 5 factors.

1. They have a goal
2. They are unhappy with their current situation
3. They are having difficulty accomplishing their goal
4. They see that you understand their situation &
what they are going through
5. They feel that you can help them overcome their
challenges and accomplish their goals.

If these 5 things are present, people will hire
you. You’ll notice that “certification” isn’t on the
list.

If you can do these things, certification is not an issue!

Kung Fu Wisdom For Your Coaching Business

Want to know a ‘Kung Fu’ secret that will help you
quickly grow your coaching business?

I’ve been taking Kung Fu lessons for 3 months now and
during today’s lesson we reviewed everything I’ve learned
so far.

I still make a lot of mistakes. Sometimes I keep my blocking
hand open when it should be closed or keep it closed when
it should be open. But…

I noticed today that I made way less mistakes than
I’ve ever made before. When I first started taking lessons
there seemed to be so many little things to focus on:
My feet, my posture, my striking hand, my blocking hand,
my techniques. It was a little overwhelming.

I think a coaching business can be the same way. We can
get overwhelmed with all there is to master:

=> 30-second commercial
=> networking/strategic alliances
=> writing marketing materials
=> writing articles
=> the enrollment process, etc. And…

What happens to many coaches is they work too
hard on perfecting all of the little details. Maybe you
never get hung up on the details, but I’m sure you
know coaches like this. In fact there could be someone
like this sitting in your chair right now. Smile

My advice for you is to *let go* of the desire to
get everything right. Trust your natural developmental
process. Instead just do. Do what you need to do, do
a lot of it, and relax about everything being perfect.

You’ll naturally become better at selling, marketing,
and even coaching. The most important thing to focus
on is getting things done and moving on to the next thing.

Without focusing on every little detail, my Kung Fu
techniques have dramatically improved simply from doing.

I’ve made a lot of mistakes with my coaching business
along the way and I’m still making them. There are 100
things I could be doing better right now. But, instead of
focusing on all of the little details that aren’t perfect yet,
I just keep working on one big thing at a time.

Those “Hypocrite” Coaches

Have you heard people telling you that you can only coach
people to do things that you have done. For example:

=> If you are going to coach someone on weight loss, you
have to be slim.

=> If you are going to coach business owners, you have to
have succeeded in your own business.

=> If you are going to be a relationship coach you must
have a great relationship.

It seems to make sense, but it’s a lie. And what’s worse is
what this lie can do to you.

It can make you…

=> Doubt yourself
=> Wonder if you’re successful enough (and ‘successful enough’
is always just out of reach)
=> Make you pull back your business building activities.
=> Keep you stuck in a lack-luster coaching business.

You deserve to feel your greatness, and enjoy powerful coaching

*** Own your Greatness, Even if… ***

You haven’t achieved *super success.* Allow me to help…

1. While I was behind on my mortgage, I was coaching business
owners to make more money. And guess what?! They did!

And guess what?!! He did!

Can you coach people to achieve successes that you’ve never
had? Of course you can! Does it help if you’ve done it yourself?
Sure. But, don’t let that stop you.

Creating Success Stories

Let’s assume for a second that you’re a great coach…I’m
sure that’s the case.

How do you “prove” this to the world so that more people
want to hire you and are willing to pay you the kinds of fees
you desire and deserve?

The best *proof* of all is the “before and after”, “case study”,
or “success story”. This is where you show how you helped
someone make a change, overcome a challenge, or achieve
a goal.

When people read about other people’s success stories it
can inspire them to want the result for themselves, and to
believe that it’s possible to get it. It will also give them a
greater feeling of certainty that you can help them achieve it.

Not only is this the best “proof”, it’s also the CORE of what
coaching is really about…helping clients get the results they
want!

*** 7 Ways to Get More Success Stories ***

To turn more of your clients into “success stories” follow these
7 steps…

1. MAKE IT A GOAL

It may seem obvious to mention this to coaches, but we can
forget things like this too. Even better than a goal, you can
make it your personal mission to change the world in some way.
But, it starts small. It starts right now, right where you are.

Set a goal to create a certain number of success stories out
of your clients over the next 12 months.

2. DEFINE THE SUCCESS STORY

During your introductory coaching session help the client define
what their success story would be. Is it…

EX: going from earning $50K/year to $150K/year?

EX: finding a romantic partner for a great long-term relationship?

Ex: dropping 40lbs. and doubling your available energy?

Get clear right away what “success” is during your intro. session
and you’ll be getting clear on what you’ll be coaching them on
over the next 6 months or so.

3. ENROLL CLIENTS LONG ENOUGH TO WIN

Enroll your client into a coaching program that is long enough
for the client to achieve the results they want.

Do NOT enroll clients into a pay per session or a “month-to-month”
arrangement when it will clearly take at least 6 months to achieve
the results they are looking for.

Can a client lose 40 lbs in 1 month? Can a business owner
triple their income in 3 months? Can someone who has been single
for years find the relationship they want in one month? Possibly,
but not likely. So, enroll them into a coaching deal that lasts long
enough to help them get the results they want.

The biggest reason coaches don’t like to enroll clients into long
term coaching (6 months, or a year) is because they are afraid
it will scare the client away to be “locked in” to making a “big”
payment.

This can be true, but when you offer a 30-day “happiness
guarantee” people can try out coaching without fear, and enrolling
into a 6 month or year long term feels safer. Plus…

Sometimes people WANT to be “locked in”. When I hired my
personal trainer I could have chosen a “pay as you go” model or
bought an 18-workout package, but instead I enrolled into the
6-month program. Why? I WANTED to be locked in to paying so
that I would keep working out!

4. BE A GREAT COACH

Like I said, I already think you’re great. And here’s one more
idea to help you increase your impact on clients.

I teach coaches to use a 5-part methodology which keeps from
letting things slip through the cracks. We look at all aspects of
what people need to succeed:

1. Clarify Direction (goals, vision, etc.)
2. Strategize Actions (plans, strategies, etc.)
3. Upgrade Skills (leadership, sales, etc.)
4. Optimize Environment (people, workspace, etc.)
5. Master Psychology (fears, doubts, etc.)

Sometime you can be working with clients on their strategies,
but they don’t have the skills to carry them out, or they are
afraid and don’t want to tell you, but can’t get into action. We
need to be able to see what the “stopper” is and help them
remove it.

5. SMALL WINS CAN BE SUCCESS STORIES TOO

Document their small “wins” too, even though they may not be
“all the way there”… and since in reality we are always wanting
more and “there” will always change…so take stock of the smaller
successes that happen along the way.

What is a “partial success story” to one person could be totally
outrageous success to someone else. You never know which
success stories could “hook” people the most.

One of my clients had grown his coaching business to 6 figures,
but because his goal was to earn $500K/year, he didn’t think
anything of it. By stopping to celebrate his partial success, he
got to appreciate his accomplishment (AND make another great
success story to inspire others in my marketing materials)

6. HELP THEM TELL THEIR STORY

All good success stories are just that… stories! Tell the beginning
(where they started out… and how it felt), the middle (what you
worked on together), and the end (where they are now and how
they feel now).

Coaching can really help with this too. It’s totally OK to coach
your clients to say the kinds of things you want them to say. It’s
even OK to write the testimonial for them!!!!…As long as it’s all
true!

Sometimes people are really busy and don’t know how to put
the work you do into words. But, if you write something up and
share it with them, they can edit it, modify it, or sign off on it.
Many clients will thank you for this! But, you must talk to them
about it first (don’t just send them a pre-written testimonial out
of the blue).

7. GET MORE CLIENTS

This may seem silly to mention. Like you don’t already want to
get more clients?

What I really mean here is to GO GET CLIENTS no matter what
they can pay. Unless your coaching business is close to 70% of
your capacity, take on clients even if they can’t pay your full rate.

The more clients you have, the more chances you have to make
another great success story. If you take a client through the
free session process on occasion you’ll run into the “affordability
factor”.

When a client says “I really want to work with you but I can’t
afford it”. You can say… “I totally understand. I’ve been there
myself. What would be an amount that would feel totally comfortable
for you?”

You have a lot of options at this point:

1. You can let them know that their amount is too low for you
and walk away.
2. You can let them know that their amount is too low for you
and offer something in the middle (between your regular fee
and their suggested fee).
3. You can offer to start them off at this fee, but let them know
that after 3 months they will need to start paying the regular fee.
4. You can offer to start them off at this fee, but let them know
that after 3 months you will “stair-step” them up toward your
normal fee (EX: Start at $150/month, then $200/month after
90 days, then $300/month after 6 months)
5. You can see what it would take to make them comfortable
aying your regular fee.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

When your clients shine…YOU shine.

Each and every client is another chance for a success story. Not
all of them will get where they want to go. Often times their
desires and goals will change along the way and that’s certainly
not your fault. (Well, it could be due to your great coaching to help
them get real clarity). But, when you set out to create more success
stories, you will! So…

Let’s fill the world with more “Success Stories” instead of all of
the “drama” stories that seem to dominate the media. And
remember…

The more success stories you have, the more likely people will
want to give your coaching a try, the higher the fees people will
be willing to pay, and the more people you will end up helping…
and that’s really what it’s all about.

Why Sales & Marketing Aren’t Enough

Guess what?!

Sales and marketing don’t cut it
if you’re procrastinating, un-focused,
or lazy. But, you’re not lazy! In fact you
probably work very hard. Still…

Have you learned a lot about growing your
coaching business from plenty of experts, but
something’s just not clicking?

Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed by all there
is to do, or maybe you’re feeling that putting
in more effort is an exercise in futility? Or…

Maybe there are certain tasks like networking,
writing your newsletter, or creating a tele-class,
that you know you need to do, but you are just
*not following through* on them. Which means that…

‘You know what to do, but you aren’t doing what
you know!’ Have you ever wondered what holds
you back from TAKING ACTION?

In a few seconds, I’ll share the secret to why we
don’t take action when we know we really should.
Before I do, I want to explain something VERY
important to you.

It very simple actually, but no one explains it
in just this way. ALL of your fears are ‘fears of
feelings’. Everything you are afraid of is a feeling
of some kind. There are only 2 types of feelings…

We have physical feelings. We have fears of getting
hurt physically (like getting bonked on the head).
And we have emotional feelings. So, we have fears
of getting hurt emotionally (like feeling rejected).

This is important to note because most everything
that holds you back in life and in business are your fears.

Well guess what?!! Over 90% of these fears are
emotional fears. So what this means is that most
of what is holding you back and keeping you from
taking action is a fear of *how you would feel if you
took that action*.

Let’s take an example. Say you want to go to a
networking event, but you just never go. Maybe
you start thinking that you’re just lazy or that you are
procrastinating, or you aren’t focused enough. But,

What’s really happening, if you take a closer look, is
that the idea of taking action doesn’t ‘feel good’. If
you imagine taking action now, you probably don’t feel
good about doing it. You may know you need to go
to that event, but there’s something about going
that feels bad. Maybe…

It even could be that you don’t want to go to the
networking event because you feel uncomfortable
talking about what you do. What is that uncomfortable
feeling?

It could be a fear of rejection, or a fear of looking
bad, or a fear of who knows what. The good news is
that it doesn’t matter what the fears are. They are just
fears of feelings. Fears of emotions. Afraid to feel
the rejection, or the overwhelm, or sadness.

Another piece of good news is that your feelings won’t
kill you. You will survive these feeling of rejection,
overwhelm, sadness, etc. But, I’m not telling you to
just jump into these situations and let yourself feel
horrible in the moment. There’s a better way to
handle this. Feel it first!

I’m about to teach you a SUPER POWERFUL tool for
handling the things that are stopping you. And,
it seems to work virtually 100% of the time!

First let me describe the pattern of stuck-ness:

1) Something’s not working or you aren’t taking action.
2) There’s some conditioning or fear underneath this.
3) We judge ourselves for having this conditioning or fear.
4) We try to push this all away and ‘think positive’.
5) We forget that we even have this stuff going on underneath.
6) We remain stuck.

Here’s a classic example:
You meet someone at a networking event, exchange cards
and say you’ll get in touch with them in a few days.

1) You don’t ever follow up with the person you met.
2) you have a fear that they’ll think you’re being pushy or
trying to ‘sell’ them something and they won’t like you.
3) You’re ashamed that you have this fear and that makes
you mad at yourself for not following up.
4) You know you need to stay positive so you focus on
something else and file all of those business cards.
5) You start to think you’re just lazy, unfocused, or
that you’re procrastinating.
6) You rarely ever if ever follow up and this thing called
networking doesn’t work for you.

How do we resolve this?
1) Identify the behaviors that you know
you should be doing, but aren’t. (make a list)
2) Focus on how it would feel if you really
went ahead and took that action. (1 at a time)
3) Be with that feeling and notice where it is in your body
and what is there (its either a feeling of judgment or fear).
4) Stay with the feeling (focus on the most intense part)
until all of the layers are cleaned up and you feel
like you can take action with ease!*
5) Actually take action.

*Note: ‘be with’ the feeling without trying to
analyze it or get rid of it. Simply be with it.
Also be aware that this process can take seconds,
minutes, or hours (and on rare occasions even weeks).

Real example of a resolution:
1) I want to offer a free coaching session to potential
clients that I know, but I never do it.
2) When I think about it, there’s a tightness in my chest.
3) I’m afraid that people won’t think I’m
credible as a coach since I’m brand new at it.
4) I feel ashamed, then sad, then ‘less than’,
and finally peaceful and energized.
5) I call up some people I know to see it they’d
like to give coaching a try! (I’m in action!)

I call this ‘Mastering Your Psychology’!

Not only do I take coaches through this process to
get them un-stuck and keep them in action, but I
also use it myself whenever I’m feeling stuck or
afraid of something.

Sales & Marketing are important, but they aren’t
enough. Action is the real king. Getting yourself
to consistently follow through and be in action is
the #1 key. Please practice this technique and see
how well it works to get you back into action and
keep you taking action! (Share your story with me!)

How to Get 6000 Subscribers in 18 Months

Have you heard that having a BIG email
list of potential clients is a great asset to your
coaching business? Well it’s true! With a healthy
size email list you can…

=> send out offers for free coaching sessions and
get dozens of potential clients wanting to have
a session with you.

=> make offers and have people purchase things
from you online and generate great revenue
from every email.

=> stop having to work so hard doing other marketing
activities like networking, speaking, etc.

Even though I was able to make a modest living from
coaching full time, I used to envy people that had large
email lists. I would think about the size of my list and wish
it was bigger.

I felt like it wasn’t fair how easy it was for people
with large email lists to roll out a new product or
program (especially when I thought it wasn’t as
good as my stuff). Just having a big email list would
make everything they do a success. Meanwhile, I
had to keep plugging away.

It was frustrating! And then…

*** From 600 to 6,000 in 18 months ***

I started looking for the “magic secret” for how to
grow my email list over night. And everyone that had
a story of how they grew their list fast was willing to tell you…
if you got on their email list. I wondered, “Is that the key to
growing your email list, by telling others you’ll show them
how to grow their list?” Now I was even more frustrated!@

Finally, I decided to scrap any dreams of growing my
list overnight. Instead, I set a goal to grow my list to 10,000
within 1 year. Aggressive? Yes. Though, I felt like it was
achievable and I had more of a long term focus. But…

I failed to get there in 1 year.

(However, now my list is over 38,000 and growing!) These days
I’m not too concerned about the deadlines for my goals. I know
that any goal I set is inevitable as long as I stick with it and
resolve any inner barriers along the way. Still…

I did grow my list pretty quickly.

Christian’s List Building Secrets Revealed!

Here’s what I did to grow my email list…

1. I set an intention to be the #1 leader in my field.
I had to work through some “personal stuff” like
self judgment (“I’m being arrogant”, “who am I to be
the leader”, etc.), but I really believe setting that
intention statement was a powerful piece of the
puzzle (you’ll see why in a minute).

2. I actually started writing articles. I used to hate writing
and wrote top 10 lists (10 ways to hire the perfect
person, 10 ways to… etc.). I had to work through my
blocks about writing (mostly I would get overwhelmed
by all of my ideas).

3. I set out to write the most valuable email newsletter/ezine
in the world on my specialty topic. I’m not sure if you think
these emails I send are the most valuable or not,
but I give it my all every time and jam it with the kinds of
stuff that other people usually charge for.

4. I made “getting subscribers” the #1 purpose of my
website – even above getting clients. I created some
great “free stuff” to give away on my site to help
encourage people to subscribe.

5. I started asking around to see if people would like to
have me as a guest speaker for their group. And if so, I
would create a webpage where people from their list could
sign up for the tele-class through my website (and give
them a subscription to my newsletter plus all the “free
stuff” as a bonus for registering to my list for the session).

6. I spoke live in front of my target market and I would
raffle off something very valuable to the people at the
event and let them know that they’d also get my articles
and other “free stuff” as a way to encourage them to
enter the contest (that usually gets about 95% of the
people to subscribe).

Note: you can do this during a tele-class too. If you’re a
guest speaker and people didn’t register on your website
as mentioned in point 5 above, simply tell people about
what you’re going to give away and then have them subscribe
part way through your class and do your drawing at the end.

7. I was interviewed by Forbes magazine for an article
on 6 figure careers. I asked the writer 3 times if he would
list my website address in the article… and he did. It was
picked up by yahoo, MSN, etc. This sure helped a lot. It
added an extra 1,800 people to my list in about 3 weeks!

Remember when I said that I set the intention to
be the leader in my field? About a month after setting
that intention and then clearing away all of my “baggage”
about it, the phone rang and it was Forbes. That was a
very nice little bump.

8. I networked. Not as much as I used to in the early
days, but when I met people and got their card I would
ask them if they were interested in reading articles about
growing their business (which is what I write about) and
then offered to send them some other “free stuff” and
got their permission to add them to my list.

9. I perfected (and still continue to perfect) my article
writing style. Instead of simply writing “content”, I do my
best to connect with my readers. I talk about what it’s
like to go through what I think they may be going through
and write about topics they tell me they want to hear.

Sometimes I’ll send out single question surveys to my list
to find out what they are most hungry to learn. And if people
randomly send me an email and ask me a question I’ll use
my answer as the beginning of an article. I also notice what
my clients are going through and will write about that.

10. I stayed consistent. I aimed to write a few articles
(newsletters) every week, and for the most part
I have. And you and the my other subscribers
have been the biggest help by passing these articles on to
other coaches that you know. That’s the #1 thing that has
helped to grown this list.

Plus, the more guest speaking I do, the more requests
I get to speak at other places. I also get asked to do
interviews from time to time and in August I did 4 interviews
in 1 month. (I’ll share the recording of a really good one with
you next week). Consistency really pays off.

*** The naked truth about having an email list ***

So that’s how I grew my list from 600 to 6,000 in 18 months,
but is having a “big” list all that it’s cracked up to be?

=> I had a different email list of only 1,200 people before I
switched my coaching specialty area and I was able to earn
6 figures with a list of that size. And one of my clients grew
his business from Zero to 6 figures in 90 days with no list.

=> Having a “big” list is relative. I meet people that have email
lists that are 50K, 200K, and in the millions! My overall list
is actually nearly 13K right now (the 2 separate lists combined).

=> You can still do things that fall flat on their face even with
a big list. It’s not the “end all be all” that guarantees your
success no matter what. You still have to do everything else
well: Have a program that people want, describe it well in
your marketing materials, price it well, etc.

=> The size of your list isn’t that important if you don’t have
a great relationship with your list. I put my heart into my
emails and send pretty frequently so that we stay in touch
and get to know each other (as much as email can allow).

If you don’t take care of your email list, they won’t take
care of you. I have to turn down “promo requests” all of
the time from people wanting me to market their stuff to you.
I say no to nearly all of them because I don’t want you to
get tons of promos from me (especially since I already send
promos of my own from time to time).

All of that said… having a list definitely makes life easier.
People have purchased nearly 6 figures of products so far
this year and I don’t think I could have done it without having
a great list. And…

When I say a “great list”, I don’t just mean a great size. I
mean a great group of people that are with me on my mission
to change the world. We’re in this together. So…

Set your own goal for the growth of your list. Even having
a list of 500 is a great start. If you have a list of under 500 there
are a lot of ways you can use your list to get clients and ways
to get clients without any list at all.

Bottom Line: Be patient and diligent. Growing an
email list takes time and energy, but it’s well worth it!
And a bigger list means you’re reaching more people
and making a bigger difference in the world and that’s
what it’s all about.
